‘Declaring himself to be a strong supporter of bike sharing,
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett predicts Milwaukee will follow Madison’s wheel
and implement its own program.
The MilwaukeeBike Master Plan
approved by the Common Council lists the launch of a bike sharing program as
one of its objectives.
Chicago, Des Moines and Kiluea, Hawaii, started B-Cycle
sharing in 2010, and programs will be added in San Antonio, Broward County,
Fla., and Boulder, Co., in 2011. In addition, Washington D.C. and the Twin Cities established bike sharing last year. Roughly 400 bike share
systems are in place around the world.'
