On October 2, 2026, the United Nations observed the International Day of Non-Violence. This observance coincides with Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to promote the principles of truth, non-violence, and peace globally. The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2007 to honor Gandhi’s philosophy and encourage education and public awareness regarding non-violent conflict resolution.
